Rev Julyan Drew
Mebyon Kernow is very saddened to learn of the death of Rev Julyan Drew.

Julyan was the most prominent member of the Drew family from Penzance, who were all very active in MK in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He stood as a candidate on a number of occasions, when there was a high-profile team of election activists in West Cornwall who were nicknamed the “Drew’s Militia.”

He also served as Chairman of the Party between 1983 and 1985 and acted as election agent for Cllr Colin Lawry into the 2000s.

A much-loved minister in the Methodist Church in West Cornwall and more recently the Penlee Cluster, he also served as Chaplain of the Penlee lifeboat, the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and Penzance Town Council. In addition, he has served on numerous local bodies including the YMCA and the Newlyn Fish Industry Forum.

A beautiful man with a beautiful heart, he truly dedicated himself to the service of others and touched the lives of so many people with his boundless compassion.

Our thoughts are with his wife Liz, his children and grandchildren at this sad time.

A more fulsome tribute will appear in the next edition of Cornish Nation magazine.
