MK criticises Spanish Government over Catalonia
Mebyon Kernow has joined Plaid Cymru, the Scottish National Party and a host of other European political parties in criticising the Spanish Government for its recent actions in Catalonia.

The Spanish state is undermining the Catalan Government and attempting to prevent a referendum on independence; it has even confiscated ballot papers and has indicated that it intends to take control of regional policing.

Mebyon Kernow spokesperson Cllr Loveday Jenkin said:

“MK members are very shocked at what has been happening in Catalonia and the manner in which the Spanish Government has intervened in an attempt to prevent the independence vote.

“It is not for MK or any other political party in the United Kingdom to support, or indeed object, to independence for Catalonia.

“But we fully support the right of the people of Catalonia to decide their own political future in a peaceful and democratic manner.”
