Andrew Long urges action over traffic chaos during large solar farm installation at Pillaton
Callington's Cornwall Councillor and Mebyon Kernow Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for South East Cornwall, Andrew Long, has asked Cormac and Cornwall Council to intervene following weeks of chaos on the roads surrounding a major Solar Farm installation near Amy Tree that has blocked roads and lay-bys.

"The work on the new solar farm has been taking place in awful weather and I sympathise with the difficulties they must be having but the chaos that they are causing with dozens of vehicles destroying hedges and verges, and now blocking one of the main lay-bys just outside Callington is causing problems for local residents and traffic generally.  I met with Cormac at the weekend and have been in contact with the enforcement team to assess whether the company are sticking to their traffic management plan properly" said Cllr Long.

"This work will be finished soon but the owners, who are no doubt going to be making large amounts of money from this site, need to take responsibility for their workers and ensure they park legally and do not disturb residents.  Council workers visited the site last week and will be monitoring the situation but it is the responsibility of the contractors to ensure they comply with the rules" he added.

The Solar farm was given approval late in 2014 and is one of the largest so far installed in Cornwall.
