Councillor welcomes approval of plans for new Health Centre
Callington's Cornwall Councillor and Mebyon Kernow Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for South East Cornwall, Andrew Long, has welcomed Cornwall Council's Strategic Planning Committee's decision to approve the new Callington Health Centre off Southern Road.

"Callington's existing Health Centre has been running at 50% over capacity at the present time and everyone who goes there knows how difficult it is to park and to get appointments so this new proposal, which includes a dementia care centre and sheltered housing, has to be welcomed" said Cllr Long.

"The important thing now will be for the Town Council and Cornwall Council to work with the applicants to ensure that this becomes reality.  This application, however, may put into doubt the application for yet another new care home, the sixth in the town, which was approved by East Planners last week off Saltash Road.  It remains to be seen whether that application is now sustainable." he added.

Councillor Long has worked with the Town Council, the applicants, and Cornwall Council Planners on the new Health Centre proposal for a number of months and changes were made to improve access following discussions.
