Stephen Richardson to stand in Illogan by-election
Mebyon Kernow – the Party for Cornwall have announced that Stephen Richardson will represent the Party in the forthcoming Cornwall Council by-election at Illogan.

Stephen Richardson speaking at the Plaid Cymru Conference 2013Stephen lives in the heart of Illogan with his wife and family. He describes his greatest achievements as being fortunate enough to have married his wife Mandy and introducing three wonderful children Rebecca, Sam and Jack to the world.
Stephen runs a local business and employs a number of local people.
Stephen is also a prominent and hard-working parish councillor, having been elected in 2010. He was recently selected by his fellow parish councillors to serve as the chairman of the Council’s Planning Committee, and he has been instrumental in leading the Parish Council towards the commencement of a Neighbourhood Plan.
In the 2013 elections to Cornwall Council, Stephen Richardson came second in this seat. He was just 41 votes behind the successful Conservative candidate, out-polling Labour, Liberal Democrat and UKIP candidates.
Stephen has described himself as “optimistic” that he could win the seat and has pledged to be an effective and hard-working representative of the local area. He said:
“It would be an incredible privilege to serve my local community as a Cornwall Councillor and, if elected, I would work extremely hard for Illogan, Park Bottom and West Tolgus at County Hall.”
Stephen is an active member of Mebyon Kernow. He is a spokesman for the Party and a member of its National Executive Committee. He has played a leading role in many campaigns and was also part of the team which produced the White Paper “Towards a National Assembly of Cornwall.”
