Farmer George (Eustice) seems to have put his size twelve Welly right in it again. Apparently he has been going round the UK telling farmers’ meetings that if we exit the EU then all the current agricultural subsidies will be paid in full from the money that would have been paid to Brussels.

On Saturday 2nd April 2016 Mebyon Kernow, the Party for Cornwall, overwhelmingly voted to ratify a policy statement (henceforward referred to as ‘the document’) which reaffirmed its longstanding support for British membership of the European Union.

Following the fantastic news that the Government has confirmed the Cornish will be recognised as a national minority through the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention for the Protection for National Minorities (FCNM), talk is already turning to the “devolution” to Cornwall. Danny Alexander, the Liberal Democrat Chief Secretary to the Treasury – who announced national minority status on the 24th April – has also confirmed that the Government would “take seriously” any bid from Cornwall to control the next tranche of European funding which will be worth more than £500 million.

The investment that we receive from Europe would never be matched by a Westminster government that was outside Europe. Cornwall receives far more cash from the EU than we pay into it in the form of taxation through Westsminster."

I want Cornwall to acquire the tools that we need in order to forge a prosperous future - a future where we make the decisions that affect us most - right here in Cornwall. It’s time that Cornish politicians put Cornwall first, instead of their party or their career. We want Cornish politicians to make the difference for Cornwall.
